I rented a cinema in Sz\u00e9kesfeh\u00e9rv\u00e1r for the screening and invited every Comenius teacher and staff member. I wanted everyone to see this and reflect on it. At the end, stunned faces shuffled out\u2014some silently on the verge of tears, all deeply shaken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is shocking to watch that on screen faculty grind a fifth grader\u2019s spirit to dust while crushing a young teacher\u2019s hopeful ambition. Their movements support every harsh word: the school administrator always shown with his back turned (he\u2019d never show his face to justify these actions), \u201cMs. Juci\u201d collapses in powerless despair on the classroom floor, and \u201cPalk\u00f3\u201d climbs up into the shade of the old oak that\u2019s seen dozens of kids like him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Is there a way out of this system of constant quizzing, shaming, humiliating, grading, and black marking? In the film\u2019s final scene, they cut down that oak\u2014Palk\u00f3 and kids like him will have no refuge next time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yes, they destroy the tree, but the human thirst for knowledge and freedom cannot be cut down. That\u2019s why I firmly believe there is a way out\u2014but only if we forge a new social compact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Let the child come first, above all else, as our shared future!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Let the little one in her mother\u2019s arms be the center of the universe! As she grows, teach her with the deepest love and impart all our knowledge\u2014because today\u2019s child will one day support us, care for us, and surround us with a loving smile as they earn their own way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Until then, let\u2019s hand out an infinite number of red marks! Encourage and uplift our children\u2014because every moment spent with a child is truly a gift from the heavens!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
